Why it exists

A lot of the hardware people grew up with is back on shelves. Some of it is a faithful rebuild. Some of it is a new product wearing an old shape. Some of it never actually stopped being made and simply became easy to find again. Those are three different things and product listings rarely tell you which one you are looking at.

Newstalgist sorts them out. Every entry gives you the original release year, the year the version on sale today arrived, and the concrete change that separates them.

How items get picked

• It has to have a real predecessor from the 1980s or 1990s, not just a retro paint job on something new.
• It has to be in production and available now, not a collector item from an auction site.
• There has to be at least one specific, nameable change. Bluetooth, USB-C, HDMI, a better sensor, a rechargeable battery.

Items get removed when they go out of production.

How the site pays for itself
